Bukittinggi. Saturday, February 25 2023. The Academic Community of Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi State Islamic University (UIN) consisting of Lecturers and Educational Staff carried out Community Service activities (PKM).
Community Service is carried out as one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This activity was carried out in Jorong Buayan, Kec. Thanks, Kab. Religion on Saturday (25/02/2023). The Community Service Agenda is a visit to the surau in the area. This activity is packaged in the form of a leisurely walk, so that the campus can reach visiting points and residential areas that cannot be traversed by vehicles.
As a State Islamic Religious College, the Lecturers provide religious counseling to the community. At the same time mapping and identifying the potential of the area to prepare a work plan in the framework of any socialization that can be developed further related to Education, Needs for Understanding Religion, and Social Interaction.
The terrain and the relatively difficult distance did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Academic Community to explore the charms of Jorong Buayan. Not only focusing on the surau, the Bukittinggi UIN Representative also provided counseling at residents' homes and to people they met on their way.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, not only fixating on Community Service, the team also socialized regarding the 2023 Acceptance of New Students at UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi.
The public interest is quite high for their sons and daughters' interest in learning. Even though it is located in a geographical area which is quite difficult to reach because it is in a mountainous area with an altitude of 1,063 meters above sea level. Coupled with winding road access and not as advanced as in urban areas. However, this does not dampen their desire to send their children to higher education.
The Matur area is indeed a priority area for socialization purposes, considering that there are so many UIN Bukittinggi students who come from Kab. the religion. Hopefully with a direct approach through a visit to Jorong, people will be more interested in choosing UIN Bukittinggi as the campus of choice. Their hope is that the campus will continue to schedule this Community Service activity on an ongoing basis so that in the future they can gain educational and religious insights on a regular and sustainable basis.
