With the vision of becoming an excellent university in Islam and science & technology based on local wisdom at an international level by 2047, UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi embraces a non-dichotomous perspective that no longer places science and revelation in contradictory lines, but rather adopts a dialogical and integrative-interconnected approach. The scholarly paradigm embraced by UIN Bukittinggi is symbolized by a light bulb radiating light, symbolizing Divine revelation and illuminating various fields of knowledge.
Located in Bukittinggi and Agam, known as centers of quality Islamic boarding schools, madrasahs, vocational schools, and high schools in West Sumatra, UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi attracts students from diverse regions. This reputation has led UIN Bukittinggi to consecutively achieve first place as the most preferred institution in Indonesia for IAIN category in 2018 and 2019, and subsequently in 2020, 2021, and 2022 for three consecutive years, prior to its transformation into a university. Bukittinggi, where UIN Bukittinggi is located, is renowned as a City of Tourism and Education.
UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi is the only Financial Management Unit (BLU) under the Public Service Agency (PK BLU) category for IAIN institutions designated under PMK Number 775/KMK.05/2018. As a BLU unit, UIN Bukittinggi enjoys flexibility and autonomy in financial management, public service, and human resources management.
Since its transformation into a university and achieving the accreditation rating of “Excellent” for institutional accreditation and ratings of A and B for all study programs, UIN Bukittinggi has enhanced its academic environment with professional educators, an ideal faculty-to-student ratio, and IT-based teaching facilities such as libraries and integrated laboratories. Currently, UIN Bukittinggi has produced over 12,000 alumni who are active in various fields nationally and internationally.
